Discovery requirements

Discovery has the following operating system, software, and network requirements.

Discovery host

Discovery 8 requires a host with the following specification:

  • Operating system:

    • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 (x86_64, aarch64) [recommended]

    • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 (x86_64)

    • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 (x86_64)*

      * Red Hat Extended Life Cycle Support subscription required from 30th June 2024

  • OpenJDK 17

  • Fixed IP address or hostname

  • Open network ports:

    • HTTP: 4567

    • Discovery server: 5701

Do not expose any of the network ports above to the Internet.

We recommend that a production Caplin Platform deployment include a cluster of two Discovery servers. Do not load balance connections to a Discovery cluster — allow DataSource clients free access to connect to both nodes.
